A very personal story. I posed this yesterday on my second channel but wanted to share on here. Thank you for watching.

Since i was 13 years old i’ve been working. Back then it was cleaning ovens at a bakery, and working down a farm cleaning out pens.

I was not born into money. Far from it. We never had anything left spare. In the later years of my childhood it was balancing act. I became very aware of money and the pain that it could cause.

At one point in m life i had 3 jobs. One in the day, one in the evening and one at the weekends. Why? Because no one was going to give me anything. No fairy god mother existed. And if i wanted to study markup artistry – well, i had to pay for it.

While i was starting my career i was working for an I.F.A (again, for money) while trying to do makeup on anyone i could get my hands on. My partner would take me to Cardiff on the weekends and i would spend 4 hours walking around the shops, looking at all the makeup, just losing myself in the…

  1. When you said that you started out and couldn't do it but didn't give up, I started to cry. I needed to hear that. I'm really struggling, I've never been very skilled at anything, my mental health is terrible and I've given up so many times because I just have no faith in myself. You make me want to try harder.

  2. I find myself in a similar position to where you were when you gambled everything you had into trying to be a pioneer. I discovered that I wanted to be a makeup artist later in my life, I'm 28 now, and have been doing it for about a year, with everyone I knew telling me it was the wrong thing to do and that it shouldn't be my path (to the point where many members of my family disregarded me entirely for not doing something they see as normal). I want to make people feel good about themselves in a way that nobody ever did for me. This story speaks to me on a personal level as someone who just wants to learn, quite simply.

I'm not taking this path, sacrificing my existing work, my way of life for any other reason that I want this for myself, my mother didn't support my decision like yours did you (which I'm very pleased for you for), but that isn't stopping me. I can only hope that my trying and yearning to be successful in this line of work can even resemble the payoff that you've had. The fact that you are happy doing what you do is more inspirational to me than any level of success. After all, isn't happiness what we all want?

  3. Thank you so much for sharing your story. I am so looking forward to being able to get your brushes one day because I have ZERO doubt that they are worth every penny!!!

  4. You are such an inspiration, Wayne. I've been watching you for years and I admire your humbleness and how down to earth you are. I'm 22 but feel like I'm beyond 30 – always dreaming and analysing and overthinking about my future and goals. At the current moment I'm at a crossroads – never have I known what I want to do with my life. I've studied so many different things and had a few job changes and yet I find myself struggling to answer that one simple statement that everyone keeps telling me and that even you mention: "find what makes you happy." I'm so passionate about so many different things and yet I feel clouded by judgement and what people think about me and certain jobs. There's so much I want to do and I feel like I'm falling behind on some sort of timeline! I don't know how to pinpoint what makes me happy, but I think this story is something I needed to watch. Thankyou for inspiring me so much with your words, God knows I need it right now ? xx

  5. Thank you Wayne. I know what it is like to be in that situation where there is nothing left over, and watching your parents struggle at a young age and feeling helpless. You give me hope that one day, I can buy what I want and not have to worry about where the money will come from because you've achieved something great and wonderful that sets you up. I feel like having faced these problems always makes you appreciate what you do get though. Wish you all the happiness.

  6. People who don't get the purpose of this video….Are idiots. And jealous. You can take any video you have done and apply the TECHNIQUE with any drug store brand and get the same results. It's about the passion and learning something. Not about the trivial branding. I think you're an amazing teacher!! ?

  7. As someone who now makes her entire living as an artist, I love this video and can relate to so very much in it. I spent my 20's and most of my 30's working jobs I hated that sucked out every ounce of creativity I had, just to be on a constant treadmill of bills. When I finally had opportunity to focus on what I loved and throw myself into artwork again (after having left it behind for almost two decades), that passion catapulted me into a wonderful, different life. Following my passion, achieving something that inspires others… and making enough money to live joyfully is one of the best feelings in the world. Thank you for inspiring me even further. <3

  8. thank you!!! i love make up, but someone said to me that in order to be good at make up you have to be good at drawing i cant draw at all, and what you said in this video has inspired me not to give up and to keep practising. thank you loveyou!

  9. Wayne, you should never apologize for your success, your prosperity or your choice of products. we love you for who you are, and I appreciate you for everything you've taught me about cosmetics. don't let the negative get you down. you're too blessed to be stressed!!!!

  10. Wayne, this video is amazing. I respected you so much before watching this video but now I respect you even more. It's so brave for you to come out and express yourself regarding this topic. I'm such a fan. Sending love and best wishes your way. Don't stop being you. You're loved!

  11. Wayne, you're an amazing man and person who has achieved amazing things. Your mother is so proud of you I know, and being someone who comes from the same type of background, so am I. Not all understand the pride that comes with being able to purchase what you want or need without worry. So congratulations to you and forget what others say negatively regarding your achievements!

  12. I absolutely love this. Thank you for sharing. You should be so proud of yourself. It totally came through in the video. I bet your mother is very proud of you. It's amazing how far people can go, from such a low point in their lives. Soldier!

  13. It was good to know this side of ur life and it truely inspires me to do what i love doing…would u be able to suggest me what private school are good for makeup courses thank u n love u always

  14. Thank you for sharing your story, it inspires me to not give up on my dreams. I too get immense pleasure from makeup, whether it's putting it on someone or just looking at the products itself.
